Kathy Says...

Read your posts. So glad this is getting used more now. I am just checking in to say hi. I am going to get ready for bed in a minute. Way to go on the bracelets, Jenny Benny:). Next time you get together to assemble them, maybe I can help. I would take some to sell too. Congrats on getting your moolah. It can't come soon enough, here. Well g'night everyone. Sweet Dreams!

jenny benny - whippersnappin' yapper

Kathy calls me that sometimes. :) well, the first part anyway! will it confuse anyone if we do this? Perhaps make others think that the post is somehow about the person in the subject line and not from them? oh well, I'm on board...at least for this post!

Tammy, the bad news is you also spelled grammar wrong. The good news is, not only does your computer have spell check, but your last post was roughly 250 words. 600-800 is not nearly as bad as is sounds. And ou can always call that one sister you have in the education industry for assistance with how to word things or have her edit your essay before you pass it along.

Thanks Tam and Jess for the clarification on the DD thing. I'm kind of DA sometimes (I like acronyms; you can figure it out...). I am pleased to say I got my moolah on Monday. WHich may be when I was asking about it, but I didn't know it was already there. Jess you might have yours now too?

Jessi, I brought 19 bracelets to work, somewhat begrudgingly as I expected to sell 2 or 3, and I have sold 13 ($130) and also received two additional donations totaling $45. Do you think you'd want to sell any? I can send some up if you'd like. They are $10 each. Otherwise I plan to try to sell some at a garage sale (Kathy's, probably) and maybe get together one weekend with you and brea and sit in front of a cub or target (as if selling hot dogs for high school...) and hopefully sell a bunch that way. Let me know what you think. We're in this together!!

I also talked to Karen the other day (mom and Mike were on the phone with her when I was at M&C's) and she is going to send a check for donation. If she writes it out to me, I will split it amongst the three of us (I can just put it in my acct and then make the donations online). If she writes it out to BC 3 Day, I can only apply it to one of us. I forgot to specify who to write it out to, so there's a chance she'll write it to my name. I could also email her and see if she sent it yet and if not I could ask her to write it out to me so that I can apply it to each of us. She doesn't want to do it online, I tried to convince her but she said she is not that "current". :)

Kathy, Memorial is around the 26th, right? I don't think I have plans yet so I would love to come up and help and hopefully sell some bracelets. I don't have a lot to contribute to the sale but I do have some clothes that are in good shape just do not fit.

I'm sure there's way more I could say but I'll stop here.

later, whippersnappers and yappers!

Shayla

I think the starting it out with your name is a pretty good idea.

Wowzaaa it's so cool to be hearing a lot from everyone. Makes me happy. Though I'm already pretty darn happy. I just can't wait to get the hell out of this nasty place and on to beautiful, peaceful places, like MN and Glacier, and then seattle. My upcoming agenda pleases me.

Jesse and I just got back from a 3-day get-away to new england. We drove up to costal maine and back. Stopped in Portland ME, Augusta ME, Bangor ME (where Stephen King lives), Acadia National park ME, Bar Harbor ME, Portsmouth NH, and Mystic Connecticut. The coolest towns were portsmouth and portland. They were really pretty, being right on the ocean, with lots of brick streets, colonial homes, seafood restaurants with local brews (I'm sort of into beer now), and a great fresh smell of ocean air hanging in the breeze. I thought the whole time of how much mom would love it there. Then we went to Mystic and I thought of Lu as we ate at mystic pizza, where the Julia Roberts movie was filmed. And the pizza was really delicious. It was a great get-away. And unbelievably difficult to drive back into nyc last night. But the end is near, so I know we can do it. We're thinking of pushing up our departure date to like the 20th or so. Although, I might still leave on the 27th so that I can still hang out with brea in D.C. when she comes out. And on the other hand, the sooner I get home, the younger the kittens will be, and watching kittens grow is one of the happiest things I know.

Anyway, yeah, Glacier is in the northwestern corner of Montana. It's all in the state except for a portion that spills into Canada. I have always driven there, but my friend Hannah is taking a train there to see me this summer, it's costing her about 250 dollars and I can easily pick her up from the train station. As far as other expenses go, it's about the cheapest vacation I know of. camping is $17 dollars a night and that would be split between at least two people since I would be tagging along. Then there's always food, but usually I just buy some groceries and live off of that. I usually end up spending somewhere around $400 for a one week stay out there, transportation included. And driving's cheaper, but you gotta bring someone with you for that cause it's a kinda long drive. It's truly an amazing place. The Grizzly factor is a hard one to get used to at first, believe me I know. I used to have nightmares every year before we left to go out there. But now I've been there six times, talked to lots of regulars about it, hiked over 100 miles of trails in the park and never even seen a single bear. And rangers and locals have told me that they make a lot of effort to stay away from us, so it's really just a precaution to be educated and mindful of their presence.

Jess, as far as san diego goes. I looked up some hotels on hotels.com and ended up finding a really nice place right on the ocean for $100 a night. It was great. But that was off-season, it was november.

Tammy~ Way to go on the school work. Writing was never my cup of tea either. I'm actually waitressing in glacier. I applied kinda late and got the last position they had. I'm staying in a dorm there, which costs $11 a day and includes 3 meals. So you can't really beat that. And I'm working from June 13th-September 15th. I'll probably stay for another week or so afterwords and camp and get in some last hikes and dips in the mountain lakes.

Kate~ that rocks that you got your license! Way to go.

And I might have some things to donate to the fundraiser, maybe I can sort through some stuff when I get home.

Tonight I'm going to one of my roommates film screening at the IFC. I'm really happy for him, he's an excellent film maker, just finishing his degree at columbia. I have cool roomates. Jesus is a film maker whose already doing amazing work, Paola is the spanish voice of micro-soft and has been doing some really cool work out here as well. Rachel worked as an actor and assistant producer for Greys Anatomy for a couple of seasons, and her girlfriend is still top dog of the make-up crew for Grey's and tells us all kinds of stories about the actors in real life. And then there's Jesse and I, the two bums from MN. But it's all good.

Anyway, I better get going. I'll yammer on later.

Take care all, Stay beautiful.

Okay-that was wierd, I can publish old drafts, afterall. I wasn't going to mess with it, but it took 2 seconds. In case you don't know what I'm talking about, I found Lu's post that she wrote the other day and couldn't post. I posted it. But, it came up on the blog according to the date she wrote it, so you have to go back a few posts to see it. It is "Happy Happy Joy Joy" I think or something like that.

Kathy

From now on I'm titling the post with my name. It's confusing to read half a post and discover it is not from who you thought it was from. So, it's from me-Kathy. It's late and I have to get to bed, but I thought I would say hi first. Anybody got anything you want to sell at a garage sale on Memorial Day Weekend? I'll advertize that it is a fundraiser for the 3 day and we'll label everything donated with pink stickers. People actually donate money too that way. Last time, several people told us to "keep the change." So, spread the word that I'm having one again and get your friends and relatives to donate their unwanted treasures.
Did I tell you all that we have kittens in the house? Our newest cat, Skeeter, had 4 kits last Sunday. They are all gray like her, 3 of them look like they will be tiger cats like their pa. They are just starting to get more active. Mom's pretty protective yet and gets nervous when we steal them for a little play time. They are cute. Starting to open their eyes, but not quite there yet.
Lu-I noticed that we can actually read the drafts that you wrote. There are four of them with your name on them and one of Shayla's. I didn't read them yet, but will check them out next time when I have more time. I tried to post them, but couldn't figure out how to do it. Maybe there is a way to copy them and paste into a new post? I'll mess with it another day.
Anyway, time to go nee nee. etalk at yall later. --Kiash
i did not mean to make it sound like jessi does not need money. she simply told me she had ideas on how she was coming up with the money. please don't leave her out of the group things to raise money. jen, they(k/c) both passed their tests. as far as school goes, i'm kinda stuck for awhile. i have to write a 600-800 word essay on interpersonal communication. what does this have to do with billing and coding i ask you? it has to be 5 paragraphs long. each containing the info requested in the outline. well, i don't know if anyone has noticed but i write one big paragraph and jump all over the place. i will be graded on grammer, sentence structure, spellign,(that was a mistake but i figured i would leave it in for enjoyment) and punctuation. good thing that's only 30 points. man, this is gonna suck. i'm pretty sure i will be stuck here for a while. oh well, it's only 1 of 45 tests so i should end up ok. i have taken 5 so far and am still sitting at 97%. that it soon to change though. oh well. as far as the direct deposit, if you elected to recieve your tax refund by dd you will get this check by dd also. i had to pay in so therefore didn't do the dd thing cause i wasn't getting anything back, so i have no idea when i get mine back. i'm 49 so it won't be right away. i hope it's before july though. i guess it doesn't make a difference but i was kinda looking for it in may. i spose i should get going i have to go to work. yap at ya all later.

HAPPY, HAPPY, JOY, JOY!!! Summer's coming!!!:)

Hi Everyone! I had a great time at Mike and Connie's Sat nite and all day Sun. As Jen blogged, she joined us and we(mostly they-they're pro's) made bracelets. Connie made me a new and def. improved ovarian cancer bracelet.(teal) She wanted to use sterling spacer beads so it won't peel and/or tarnish. It's lovely! Thanks again, Connie.

Congrats indeed Kate! Good job. Say hi to your brothers for me please.

Congrats to you too Mackie on a job well done. You were a super-techie on this one right? Plus acting?

Good News! Ed is cancer free. Both skin cancer tests and prostate were neg. Mom says,"Now, if we could just find a way to wake him up!!!" He sleeps at every pos moment. If they go out he stays awake but as soon as they get back home, he's out. He's not much companionship for her. She still thinks something must be not quite right with him that he sleeps that much. Mostly, she thinks it's cuz he's so heavy and doesn't exercise. I agree. I also agree w/ Kathy, this "winter" is crazy. Big Sandy still has ice!!! Hey, let's all go ice fishing for the opener--ha ha Def. just kiddin'.

It's Mpls Con Ctr busy time and I'm on the payroll. I just finished my first visit for the season. I'm working again this week Thurs-Sun. I just love it!! Chef Steve asked if I'd run the burrito bar Sat and Sun 9-3 with Pam. Pam is working there too, for now at least. She worked Thurs and Fri last week and was one pooped puppy but she made us proud! Kathy, she needs to be reinvited too. angelwings53@comcast.net. Good job and gold stars to you too Teej! What fabulous test scores!!! Keep it up. Time to turn in. Catch y'all in a day or two.

Glacier Park

My last comment on this was a little confusing- it was two thoughts in one paragraph. I am curious about how much it would cost to go see Shayla at Glacier and, I was also asking her about her trip to Cali. Thanks :) I'm on a roll here. Jen, I do not have any money yet! You have seen the account! I have a couple leads, that's about it though. Just wanted to clear that up. Although some guy at work did give me some old coins to sell, I think I might be able to get a couple hundred dollars for them on ebay.

If you go on the IRS website, it'll calculate how much you are getting and give you an idea of when you will get it. My # is 12 and it says it will be in my bank account no later than May 2. It is direct deposit if you had your tax refund set up that way. Good luck- happy spending! j/k

YOWSA!

Lots to read = lots to say!
Going backwards, Kathy, I heard the same thing about the $$ as far as the last four of your SSN goes - mine is 11 also ;) - but the schedule I saw put my check at the end of July. I saw the news tonight and they said that some checks are already sent out if you opted for direct deposit. Well does anyone know how we are to go about selecting that? All I heard is that I was getting some money, I didn't hear anything about my options for receiving it.
Kathy (still), did you get our voicemail? Mike, mom and I sang you happy birthday yesterday. :) Surely you've heard it by now! Glad to hear you got some answers about your thyroid issues. I of course knew about that, but for some reason reading about a lump on your neck on this blog took me by surprise. But then Brea explained it all to me Saturday night. Speaking of Brea, we still need to relive our southwestern vacation so keep us posted if you get an offer and go to NV. But I'm with Tammy, if you weren't that interested and they can't offer you what you are happy with now, then it is not worth it!
Tammy, you crack me up! :) A lot of my cousins are blessed with good brains but I'm sure a lot of it was a lack of effort on my part when it came to high school at least. But like Kathy said, where there's a will, there's a way! Ok that's not exactly what she said, but you get the idea. I think it is awesome that you are getting all of that rolling for yourself. I hope you love what you are doing when you are done with school and get resituated.
Back to Kathy, that would be AWESOME if you were willing to donate some garage sale $$ again. That was such a huge help for me in '06 and this time I need to raise about half of what I raised in '06 so a garage sale would hopefully be a huge part of it. Plus it sounds like Jessi is all set and doesn't really need help? We'll just see where everyone is at for $ at garage sale time and split it however we need to. When I moved in w/Adrian I donated a lot of stuff to the American Cancer Society garage sale so as to avoid having to move a ton of stuff I don't need, but now I'm there again since none of my clothes fit (Yay!) so I'll go through all that and whatever is in decent shape I will try to sell. When do you think you would/will have it? If you have an idea, I'll keep the general timeframe open so I can come up. Maybe I'll have a little luck selling bracelets at the garage sale as well!
Speaking of bracelets, we (mom, Connie and I) made 20 yesterday and we ran out of crystal beads. Connie ordered a lot more today, I think enough for another 60 or 70 bracelets! So again/still if anyone wants to buy a bunch from me and sell them, let me know and I will send you some!
What else...I can't believe the twins are 16! that is just crazy. Katy congrats on the license! What about Cody's?
Gosh, what else...I agree with Kathy, I wish there was a way to see the existing posts as you are typing one. Can't think of what else I was going to respond to so you all are lucky..this is it from me for a minute!

later, yappers!

Meant to mention

I wish I could see the previous posts when I'm typing a new one. I was going to tell you that my friend Karen was talking over a tax issue with the IRS and they told her that the checks were getting ready to be mailed. They are being paid in numerical order, according to the last 2 digits of your social security number. Hers is 11, so she could expect hers soon. Mine's 75, how about you? Just so you know. If you've got a big number, it may take a while longer.
It is still coming down out there!!

Hello!

It is so cool to see people responding. I will invite Katie as soon as I get this posted. Jess, Tammy, Jen, whoever....Glacier National Park is in Montana. It may cover more states, but that is the part of it that Shayla visits every year and where she is working this summer. And it is totally a tenting area. It's awesome camping, beautiful, with tons of hiking available with rewarding views when you arrive at the top of a mountain. It's definately bear country (grizzlies) so you have to be smart about it, but it is worth the anxiety. Shayla knows tons about the area, having been there so many times, so she makes an excellent guide and would show you around and give you pointers. She really wants to have visitors since she usually spends summers here and will miss everyone, I'm sure. I am going to visit sometime this summer, for sure.
Lu-sorry I was sort of out of it when you called. I was up until after 4:00 am so was a bit sleepy when talking to you. We are getting dumped on with snow once again. Will this winter never end? Now I have to get out there and shovel before I can get out to go to Mac's play. It looks like about 6-8 inches have fallen. And of course the plow has made a nice snowbank to shovel at the end of the driveway. I am sooooo sick of this winter.
Congratulations, Katie, on getting your license. Ah yes...where have all the hot guys gone?
Keep it up Teej, with your studying. And for the record, I have to work very hard to get good grades these days. High school was easy for me, but college was very tough. I think the years in between had their toll as far as being able to retain knowledge. It just slips right back out these days. But thanks for categorizing me as one of the smart ones.:) You will do great too. I think you have to want it is all, and you do.
Well, I have to get to the shoveling, I guess, so, I'll invite Katie, then get to work. Hope you all have a great weekend. Take it easy shoveling, if you got snowed on in your neck of the woods.
Love ya all- Kiash

welcome back weigels and offspring

wow. i came on here tonight to do a little homework and checked the blog first and am so excited! all these new posts. keep it up everyone. jess, i got your text and replied but came on here so i will answer you again. it wasn't intentional, i guess it just didn't come up. kate, welcome to the big kids, kathy will have to invite you on because she started this, but i'm sure now that your address is known she will get right on it. jen, thanks for the pep talk. i'm pretty sure kris and jess didn't get their smarts from their mama. grampa, kathy and lisa maybe. kathy and lisa can both attest to me studying and still sucking and them not studying and passing with flying colors. but i think it makes a difference in attitude. i want this so i will make it work. maybe not with flying colors but i need 70% to pass. i'm pretty sure i will make that happen. you should see me before i go to take a test. i go over all the self help tests and i look at my answers about 3 times to make sure i haven't changed my mind on anything before i go on line to enter the answers. but, so far so good. don't feel bad about glacier national park cause i have no idea where that is either. after reading jessi's entry i'm guessing it's in cali but wouldn't put a dollar on it. there's that school thing again. shayla, what exactly are you gonna be doing there? kathy, glad your dr appt went ok. don't worry about the weight. that has alot to do with thyroid don't it? good luck with the chantix. i have just about enough saved up and i am gonna do it too. according to the news, we are sposed to get our checks the first week in may. as far as the job goes, it didn't sound like something you were real interested in. it's not what your doing now and i think you really like esl. don't settle. something else will come up. although i did have a pretty good plan for visiting. i better go to school for awhile. yap at ya all later.

Stupid error message!

I just typed a pretty little message and then got an error message. So, again, hello everyone. I am bad at getting on here. Kathy, I hope you feel well dispite... I am just going to have a garage sale at my house so that I do not have to lug everything, but thanks for helping!

I am sitting here with Sam and Katie. Kate says hi and she would like to be on here too if she could get invited, her emial is k_boody2010@hotmail.com. that is k_ . Thanks.

Shayla, went you went to Cali last summer, did you go to San Diego? If so where did you stay? I would love to walk up some mountains, how long will you there? Any idea about the approximate cost of a trip there? Could I tent it up?

Kate wants y'all to know that she got her license. she was disappointed to have spent a couple hours at the mall today and only seen one hot guy! :) lol.

Have a good night/day/weekend/week!
Love,
Jess and Katie

me again

P.S. It's Hashimoto's Thyroiditis that I have. (In case you want to look it up.) I just checked it out. It's the most common type of thyroiditis in the US. It is an inflamation of the thyroid gland not caused by bacteria or infection but from the thyroid gland not working properly. It is connected to hypothyroidism, actually causes it in a way, and can be temporary, and treatable, but I already have that so it is not a temporary or treatable condition, other than what I am already doing. It's not a big deal. And it is good to finally know why my gland is swollen.

I was all gungho to get the house cleaned up when I got home and now it is after 10:00 and I haven't started yet. So, guess what I am going to do? Yep. Get started on the housework. I want to tackle the basement this weekend-getting things sorted, thrown out, given away, ready for garage sale, etc... and generally cleaned up.

Hope you all have a great weekend. And I hope you post on here now that I can read them when they are posted instead of days later when I can get on it at work. I can read them there but not post since the school blocks most non educational sites. Anyway-I'm outa here. etalk at ya later. -Kiash

FINALLY!!!!

I am finally getting on here. If this doesn't post I'm gonna scream. Hey, I haven't been ignoring everyone. I have been reading your posts-just haven't been able to post myself due to my slooooowwww computer. I've been working on it tonight for three hours and finally got my internet up and running again. Hurray! WARNING! THIS IS GOING TO BE A LONG POST!!

First of all, about my thyroid...I've had a lump on my thyroid for years. I've been in three times to the hospital for ultrasounds/tests. I never heard anything back that anything was wrong, even though I obviously know there is a lump there. Anyway to make a long story short. This time it was very photographable. I have been in to the clinic 5 times this month following up on this and my thyroid condition. The ENT suspected that I had thyroiditis and ordered yet another blood test to prove or disprove his theory. The clinic called today and confirmed that I do have this 'disease.' I don't know much about it, since I have been trying to get on the blog for the past few hours and haven't yet looked it up on the internet. I believe the gyst of it is that my thyroid gland is dying. The actual treatment is to be on synthroid which I am already on, so I don't think it is anything to worry about. They said on the phone that they did not need to biopsy it, so that is good. I already have to take thyroid medicine for life, so there is really no change. I believe I have a goiter and as long as it does not get bothersome, it will just stay there, as it has for the last ten years.

About Vegas... I am not sure I will get offered a job there. It looks to me like they have bilingual programs but don't offer much for those who speak languages other than Spanish. They monitor the other second language learners, which isn't much and often means they don't offer instruction for those that need it. If I do hear from a school, I will then know what they do at that school and if it something I would be interested in. It does look like I will be looking for a place in Little Falls at this time. I'll let you know if anything changes.

Mac's most recent play opened last night. It went very well. I am going to it tomorrow.

Shayla you know I will come visit! It is so beautiful there! I look forward to it. This time I'll actually get some writing time in.

Jen, Jess, Bre: good luck on your fundraising. Let me know what I can do. I think I already told you all that I am willing to run a garage sale for your cause again. It did go well last time, and I am having a couple garage sales this summer to get rid of what I don't want to move later.

We will be moving in August, by the way. Mitchell and Mac will probably be getting places in Brainerd with friends and I will probably be getting an apartment in LF.

I am excited that all my 'numbers' have improved tremendously and for the first time in quite awhile my cholesterol, triglycerides and blood sugar levels are where they should be. I went off my diabetis medicine because it was making me too sick even though it was wonderful at keeping my blood sugar on track. But my A1C was good without it, so I was happy. I feel like I am finally getting it under control. Unfortunately I am gaining back the weight in a few months that I slowly took off over the course of 2 years! I am going to work hard at getting it off again and am going to be more aggressive. I don't want to go the slow route again.

Also, don't get your hopes up too much but I got a prescription for Chantix today too, when I was refilling all my usual meds.

Okay, this is long enough. I'm sure there is lots more I can think of if I try, but I will check out info on thyroiditis while the computer is working, and come back later. Some of you are devoted bloggers and I commend you. I am trying to be. Keep your fingers crossed that I can keep the internet available.

Love you all-Kiash

say what?!

What's this about a lump on Kathy's neck? That's the first I'm hearing of it.

This is probably a stupid question but where is Glacier National Park?

I get to see Brea tomorrow! She and Blake are in the cities for the weekend. Yay!

Any other yappers out there?

update for mom

Hey guys~

Sorry I haven't been on here in so long. Mom wanted me to put in a few words for her since she hasn't had the best internet access. She had a few appointments about the lump on her neck, and they said it probably isn't cancer, since she's had it screened before and didn't see anything. She also said that she doesn't really know about the job in Nevada. Unfortunately it sort of seems like they are neglecting the esl field down there, which is really sad, so she doesn't know that it's going to turn out. She's gearing more and more towards a place in little falls next year. She'll get on here as soon as she can.

And as for me, I got a really excited summer job lined up for myself out in Glacier National Park. I'm still auditioning, but I'm trying to audition for fall jobs, so that I can keep this job out in Glacier, being that it's my favorite place in the world and though I've been there 6 times now, it never feels like time to leave. Plus it's going to be way better money than any summer acting job would have been, and I've gotta get those college loans taken care of. I'm totally stoked. I can't wait. Please please please come and visit me. I will show you the park and we can climb a few mountains together. There's nothing better. Plus the glaciers are melting fast, so there's really no time but the present.

Everything feels really good in my life right now, I'm a happy camper. But I have to get going now, my roommate and I are going to yoga. Yay! I'll update more soon though.

Take care,
Stay beautiful,
Shayla

Well geez it sounds like you should be the teacher! That is so awesome you are doing that well. And you definitely have the right idea to not look up the answers; that won't do you any good later. And you know Kris and Jess are pretty smart cookies and they had to get it from somewhere! :) I'm sure you will do good on the upcoming ones too; you'll probably just have to study them a little more and make sure that you actually understand it before you test on them. I think that's the problem whe a lot of people try to "learn" something; they try to memorize it instead of trying to actually learn it. Speaking of the medical field, Grey's Anatomy is back on in a few minutes! I'm so excited. I'm glad Jessi is situated with her fundraising; that always the hardest part so if she knows how she's getting her money already then that's good. Hopefully she can do it all early and not have to worry about it. That reminds me, Connie got the beads but she is also waiting for some different ones that she was expecting to get today. She was going to call me tonight but I know she is also watching Grey's! But I'll be over there this weekend to put those together so that'll be fun. I'm not sure how many I'll end up selling but I will have to figure out some other fundraisers as well. That's all from here! Later, yappers!

i talked to jessica yesterday at bingo(no we didn't win) and it sounds like she is pretty set on the $ part of the walk. her company is giving her 700 and she is going to have a garage sale(alot of people are gonna donate) plus she will have a jug for additional $, and she is gonna make suckers. she feels she is pretty much set as far as that part goes. there was something else in there but i forgot what it was. as far as my class goes i have taken 3 tests so far(there are 45) and i got 100% 90% 100% so that puts me at 97%. impressive huh? i am excited. being that it is on line of course they say you can use the books, but i try not to because your not really learning anything if you just look up the answer. there are 3 or 4 self help quizes in each unit, i look the answer up at the end if i get it wrong but otherwise i try not to use the books for the tests. unless of course i absolutely have no clue. so far the tests have been multiple choice so it hasn't been too bad. the fun has yet to begin though. i haven't got in to the hard units yet. we'll see what my grade is in a couple months. not much new, just wanted to let everyone know how jessi is doing on her part of the funding. yap at ya all later.

what she said

Tammy, sounds like you have everything pretty well figured out at this point. I'm with mom; I'm not brave enough to do my own thing unless it is in addition to a full time job but I just don't have that much faith in myself as an enterpreneur. However this billing and coding thing is a lot different; I think we could all pull that off since you get education and have the luxury of yworking your hours when you want. That sounds like a sweet deal, actually! I think you've done enough bending in your life.
Mom, why would you go to dad's wednesday? are you still helping on the house or something? I've never seen Krista on here but your last post was talking to her. You must know something I don't? What fundraising is she doing? I haven't heard much from Jessi lately other than that she doesn't know where she would sell any bracelets if we did it together. Either way, I'm doing it, so it's no biggie. Goodies will be in in a couple days and I can't wait! As far as Brea goes, she's got some ideas. She was thinking about having a grad school grad party but rather than taking gifts of cash for herself she would just ask everyone to make a donation instead. That's a pretty awesome idea I think. Maybe we can do another big garage sale? Kathy pulled that off last year through three or four days of rain and donated about $500 to leukemia for me. Guess it was summer 06 but that's not the point. It was VERY helpful! later yappers!

(!#@*!!) work

Hey Tam, you just keep at it and you'll do fine. I have a 5 year plan and I might be a little behind for where I thought I'd be by now but it's progressive. The billing and coding thing sounds interesting-I thought about it years ago already, but the whole "fear of failure" kind a gets to me there. I'll use you -and Kathy, as my guide post and you can let me know if you think it's something I might be able to do. Catch ya later, see ya Tues.
hello everyone, lu, work really sucked today. i think it's because they expect you to bend over backwards to help them(which i don't mind, it's part of the job to do what you can do to help out), but they don't really give a shit about your delimma. when i told tammy(the scheduler) that this was a really big commitment, she simply said "oh you can do it". which is true, i could, and even considered it, but when i asked for a few things that i only thought was fair trade, i was shot down. so as far as i can tell the bending only goes one way. well, my back hurts and i'm done bending. screw them. i am there for the residents. anything behind a desk doesn't care about us so why should i care about them. so i hope that clears up the question about work. the class on the other hand gives me a whole bunch of oppurtunities and i love that. in fact, when i got the message yesterday that work wasn't gonna bend my way on anything i asked for, i enrolled for the on line class and completed 2 tests. so that part is going great. i talked to kathy today and she is considering it also. the medical field is so large and everyone needs billing and coding so i should not have a problem getting started. i'm pretty sure i will work in an office somewhere for a while until i get some experience and learn the ins and outs and start some at home stuff. once i feel i am making enough at home i will get out of the office. probably a few more years yet. so i will use the nursing home(turnabouts fair trade)for awhile until i finish my classes, then i am out of there. i have set a goal of six months. and i'm not real strict with myself, but i'm hoping it won't be much more than that. then i'll be in an office for a year or so and then hopefully, i'll be ready to be my own boss and work when i want. i still have to pay the bills, but it will be on my terms. if i feel like working 10 hours a day, it's my choice and my check. if i make plans, then i don't work that day. sounds good so far. hopefully everything will work out that way. not tomorro though. i know it will probably take a couple years but i'm ok with that cause i know what is around the bend. one day at a time right? just like everything else. i'm glad mom is feeling better. fluid retention is quite common in the older folk. i see it all the time. not to be ignored but common. lasix is quite common in the nursing home and usually works wonders. sam was on lasix when he was a baby. they would pump the fluids so he wouldn't become dehydrated, then give lasix to get rid of the fluid.( i just reread that and let me clear that up. sam wasn't older folk and wasn't in the nursing home). things just don't work like they should some times and one remedy creates another problem. easily fixed with another remedy. and so goes the medical field. i have anatomy and physiology I&II coming up in about the middle of my class so i will be able to explain alot of things that don't click right now. i'm looking forward to that part. although i know it will be quite difficult for this brain. but it will be interesting none the less. i'm pretty sure that will be my longest time frame for those courses. but it won't be a problem cause i'm already expecting it to be tough. so, i think i have rambled on long enough so i'll yap at ya all later.

Hey Jen, First, about saving the blog--I did save it. I was almost done and I saved it so I could go back and read the ones you and Tammy wrote, when I went back to where I thought I'd left it I couldn'y pull it up to post. It was there, I could read it, but I couldn't get it out of "there". So I guess it's still in blog limbo somewhere. About MCC, I'll be working @ 9 on Thurs, Fri & Sat. I thought maybe I'd go to Dad's first after work on Wed. before heading down-don't know for sure yet. Maybe I'll meet you @ Mike and Connie's.

Hey everyone, Gramma/Mom is much better. They had an advertised potluck today at the Center and only 28 people showed up. She was kind of bummed about that, but that's just the way it goes sometime. Hey Shay, how's NY treating this go around? You be nice to that cute little foot. A mile right now is probably just about right. Any more audi's or just makin' money? You're down to about a hundred days then you can say good bye(thumb your nose- whatever) to old NYC for as long as you want anyway.

Krista, how are you doing with your fundraising? (How are you doing period, actually?)
How about the other two whippersnappers? How are all of you doing. Jess, if I win anything at bingo between now and the deadline I'll give you half. Brea, what can I do to help you out? Do you have anything going right now? Were you talking about a bake sale?

Ron's home this weekend. So far it's going pretty well in KC. He's just starting to get a crew together. Karen went to Egypt but I haven't talked to her yet. Ron said she was glad to get back home.

How goes the on line class Tammy? Is work suckier now, or just same old same old?
Hey Lisa, are we "on" for next week or do you have plans already? I think I can smell the hazelnut coffee from here. mmmm
Well gotta run (sleep, actually) Yap at ya later, (I really do love that line-thanks again TJ)
hey mom sorry I didn't get your call last night; I went to bed right after I got off the phone with you and fell asleep right away. sucks you had to retype everything. When I was in BK Attorney Management at work I had several conference calls each week with the law firms I "managed" and I had to type up summaries for each call so I learned very quicky to save my work as I was doing it and not take any chances of losing what I was typing. So my advice to you is, if you are typing for a while and not done yet, I would highlight what you have typed up to that point and copy it just in case you lose it, so you can just paste it and don't have to retype everything and try to think of everything that rolled off your fingertips the first time. I've noticed that you can also just click "save now" to sve your blog before you post it, and the page also says "now blogger saves your drafts automatically" but I've never started one without posting it so I'm not sure how you would retrieve it. But I'm sure it is easy which means your previous draft is probably still in there somewhere.
The bracelets will be in around Wednesday. Unless I somehow get them during the week, I will just talk to CW in a few days and if they are not busy over the weekend I will probably go up and get everything then. Are you staying down for the whole weekend? do you know what hours you'll be working?

Spring has Sprung!

Hi All. (Take 2) I am rewriting this as I somehow managed to lose the one I just wrote but didn't post. G'/mom's crocuses are blooming so it was time to unleaf the flower beds. Mom's feeling better, goes back in on Monday but I'm still concerned. She still seems weak to me. Ed had warts removed today, one of which was sent to pathology. He goes to a Doc in St cloud on Wed. concernig his prostate.
Jen, thanks for the spell check (and correction) on Lasix. Mom is taking one pill in the am plus she's on Coumadin and takes an aspirin every day. That's a whole lot of blood thinning going on.
3D=3Day, Just one of many type oh-oh's:) Sorry my blog was hard to read. I was just messing w/ the colors and fonts. Keep me posted on the when to get together for the bracelet building marathon. (I'll be working at the MCC next weekend). And,Yes, I think I can sell a few at work. It's worth a try.
Congrats, Tammy, on making a decision on the to do or not to do. It sucks spending all that time trying to figure out what to do only to discover you were really being taken advantage of. You're either worth more money or you're not. They can't educate you -largely at your expence, then pay you for that knowledge if and when they feel like it. I def. think you made the right choice. there's just got to be a better way. So, Good Luck. Keep me posted. I'll do the same. See ya Tues after my meeting. Ta ta.
So they won't give you more money without taking that class, which you'd have to lose work hours for? I guess if I were you and the class is available that often anyway, I would just take it when it fits into your schedule like you said. So you are thinking about moving jobs when you are done with the classes you want? Ever think about physical therapy? I think you'd be good at that. Now that I'm typing I don't remember what time you posted; did you get ahold of Kathy? What's up with her interview? We haven't heard from Shayla in a few days...wonder if my mom is going to keep up now that she checked in the other day.
Ms. Mackenzie, you sound like a very busy girl. Now I know what it feels like when I was graduating from HS and the few cousins older than me felt like they were really old and I should have still been 8 or 9. Are you going to have a party or anything like that? What's your book about?
hey jen, way to go on the lasix. i was gonna say what it was for but ya beat me to it. here's the deal on that class. if i took it, which i decided i aint gonna, i would give up 4 days of work which amounts to roughly $400, the nursing home would pay for the class, which is $399. i in return would have to sign a contract with them saying i will stay employed with them for a year or pay a prorated amount of the class when i leave. if i quit in 6 months i would have to pay them $200. well, lets think about this. i get to give my life to them for a month, lose $400 and can't be guarenteed any cart hours. oh yeah i would only get the extra $1 when i am working the med cart. i have been giving this some serious thought for the last week and decided to wheel and deal a little bit to help me make my decision. i told her yesterday at work that i do not want to sign a contract because as far as i am concerned i'm already paying the $400, i also want the extra $1 across the board or it wouldn't really be worth the stress of taking the class. she said she would take to the big shots and let me know what they say. she called this morning and said they said no. but she really hopes i will consider taking the class cause she really thinks i would be good on it. i said NOPE! this class is offered twice a year and i think i will take it on my own at my convenience. so that's that. i was on line this morning trying to decide which school to go with for my on line stuff. i have a few questions out there and as soon as they email me back i will make my decision and get started. hopefully they will answer me today so i can get this moving. i check the paper occasionally and there are usually billing or coding jobs in there so i'm ready to get started. the other girl that was signed up for the class was undecided also and after i made my speal yesterday(she was there) and got shot down today, she also decided not to go. kathy, what's up with the interview? call me or something. forget i'm gonna call you right now. yap at all later.

whippersnappin'

Haven't started walking yet. Well I walked around the neighborhood yesterday but maybe a mile or something. I really miss those 20 mile walks...

Mom, what's up with gramma. It's one thing right after the next and I hate to be the cloud instead of the silver lining, but all these little things that come up are making me nervous. Saw the ? by the "lasics" in your post -- "Lasix" is correct. It is a prescription drug that is used to treat high blood pressure and fluid retention. It decreases the blood volume by increasing the amount of salt and water that the kidneys remove from the blood. Just call me Nikki. Or thank Google, you know, whatever! And one more thing, the deal was that she'd go in on Monday if she wasn't feeling her best after the weekend. Well it is already almost Friday, and she's still not feeling the best? Does she need to go back in maybe? I think you said she has a check up with DR G but I can't remember when you said it was.
Thanks for offering to help with the bracelets, I can definitely use it. Connie ordered the beads for me today (since she knows all the great places and is a pro) and they should be in in about a week. Can't wait! They will be all pink; alternating light and dark pink glass cat eyes and then I found a great "charm" to put in it and it is pretty cheap too. It is a clear bead with a pink hand blown glass cancer ribbon on each side of the little flat bead. Looks cool online so hopefully we like it when it comes in. I'm very excited! Think you can sell any at work?
I got a message from David last night about the party. I emailed Jeannie this morning and she didn't know so she does now. I still get to see Emily this weekend. :)
One more question, what is "3D" from your blog? I was lost there.

TammyJo, sounds like a sleepless month. Yuck. Awesome if/when you do it, but it will probably carry a little stress! The online class should be easier for you to work into your schedule. You will be a busy bumblebee but it will be worth it in the end. You should definitely take that time off early June if you do that class in May. If you don't go anywhere, maybe just take a few days off and then a couple more in July or something. This wise advise coming from the girl who gets floating holidays, sick time and three weeks of vacation each year and has about two combined days left to show for it, and that has to last through December 31st. It's a shame I spent so much time in Jamaica, Trinidad, Florida...If you think this will stop me from taking Breezy Friday and possibly Monday off, you are happily mistaken!!! I can always make it up. :)
Thanks for offering to take some bracelets; that would be SO awesome. Fortunately boob cancer and the color pink are BFFs (best friends forever!) so we are keeping it simple by doing all pink bracelets, which means they will be beads only and it will save a lot of money by not having to put in the sterling silver spacers, those are pretty expensive so anyway I'll be able to make them a lot cheaper than ones we have made for mom and Barry which means they can be sold cheaper as well. They will be $10. can't wait to get everything and whip them together! I've spent countless evenings at connie's (ok, I could probably count them!) making bracelets; it has been so much fun and opened up a little extra bonding time for us which I always love. It has kind of become a favorite passtime for me so I'm ready for it!

Speaking of fundraisers/donations, Barry's life-long best friend home schools his son who I think is around 8 years old, and just like we have all had to do door to door type school fundraisers, so did this kid for his home school program. Well I'll start by saying that his parents had to call to order more of what he was selling and the lady asked how many kids were in the class and they got the pride of saying "1"...I'll end by saying that this boy, the son of Barry's best friend, sold hundreds of scented pencils door to door and gave all the money to Barry. Regardless of wether that was the dad's idea, I just thought that was about the sweetest thing on earth.

What's Jessica up to? Haven't heard from her in a couple weeks.

CATCH'N UP!!! (Ya I know!!)

Hi Everybody, Luke here, I've finally made it to the site!!! I have sooo much to write about but I'll start with news about Mom/Gramma. Sat. am I noticed that she had swollen feet. She said she felt bloated too. We talked about it being a serious condition and she said she would go in Mon if it wasn't better. Sunday the swelling was way down but she wasn't feeling great. True to her word, she did go in on Mon and Dr. G. put her on lasics(?) and ran a chest x-ray. She has fluid in her lungs. She told me she's been having "chest pains--well actually a tightness in her chest" and it's dificult to breathe!!! Dr.G. is "watching her closely" . I don't understand how he's doing that or why he'd send a patient home who says it hurts to breathe... I asked her to wake me up Mon nite if she got up--she tried sleeping in bed - that was uncomfortable, so she ended up in the chair and that wasn't much better. She didn't wake me. Last nite she went to bed and was up this am before I went to work. She said she had slept a little better. Today was a preplanned trip and they didn't cancel. They toured the coke plant in St Cloud (that'd be the cocacola proc. plant):), went the cities to a restaurant called the Riverboat. saw a Vaudville act and were back in time to go to the center and set up boxes for tom. The day went fine and she says she's feeling better but still not as good as she'd like. She goes back to Dr.G. on Friday. I'll do an update-- every day--and I apologize for not getting on here sooner.

OK. I think I have a little note for everyone-kind of starting from the begining! Hi Lisa! I've been MIA but I'm here now! I really do think this is a great idea and eventually we'll all just be bloggin away.
Hey Shay, you just keep smiling! Congrats to you, Jen and Jessi on your wt. loss!!! Good job. As far as it being lost; it's not lost at all. I think I know exactly where every lb went! I'm working on working on it. ):

The visit here at Mom's/Gramma's was great-as usaul. I love seeing everyone. (anyone!) Joan and her boyfriend come up once a month or so and they have me playing "hand and foot" It's a card game and it's just fun. (Right Mackie?) (Mom and I went up to Kathy's and played cards w/Shayla before she had to leave and we played and played and played!!) Mack and I went to bed last--I'm pretty sure that makes us the winners!!!!Hey I'm coaching her on her first Breezy Weekend.
The 3D is up and running! Good job on the name and good luck to all three of you! Please let me help with the bracelets! I also want to do something at work. I'll keep you posted. Tammy, I still think you should report the s.o.b. He gets paid to help people. He had no right being such a jerk!!! You could pos. be annon. It's not too late. I have Lions on Tues the4n the schedule changes and I'll be able to come to bingo. Congrats on the school thing. I thought you were going to wait for better days. Let us know how it goes! Good Luck!!

Hey Jen, if your brother didn't get a hold of you, the party is postponed. Sophia is very sick. Maybe even pneumonia. Probably reschedule in a couple weeks. I addressed this to you because I never see Jeannie and Susan on here but where are they. Not invited or not into bloogin? I think Jeannie said Kathy probably had her old e-mail ad. We'll have to fix that.
I kept Kathy company for her trip to and from the interview and when we got back we to a nap in the car. The sun was shining in and it felt so good. I felt like a kid.
Hey Lisa, It's MCC time again and Connie called to let me know Mary could use me next week. She has me scheduled for Thurs the 24th at 9 so I was wondering if I can bunk at your place again? I'm taking pto Thurs and Fri and also working Sat. I'm excited--this $$$ goes into my Breezy Bucks Acct): Talk to you soon.
I forgot to mention Ed has a prostate check up next Wed. His PSA was normal but his gland is enlarged and hard. I'm not sure what that means but I'll let you know how it goes. (He goes in this Fri to have warts removed-he's convinced they're hurting him. One more thing to bug Mom about.) GRRRR
Mom says Hi to all. She says she's feeling a little better. I just said goodnite and I'm not convinced! She's still puffy and breathing is still not back to normal. She has to get up by about 3:30. (Thurs./donut day) I sure hope she gets some rest tonite. Speaking of which..It's way past by bedtime but I'm so happy I got on here! Way overdue. Yap at y'all later): (Thanks TJ-I just love that!!!)

welcome back

hey jen, glad to hear from ya. as far as that class goes, it starts may 1 and runs 3 days a week. wow. its on mon, wed, and thurs. those are the three days i work every week so needless to say i have to pick up the other 4 days and still end up l day short at the end of the week. between work and school i will be tied up 7 days a week for the month of may. fun huh? i'm not real sure about the whole deal but it's only a month. and i do have a weeks vacation to burn up before sept so i'm guessing the beginning of june would be good. i also think i'm gonna do that on line billing and coding class but i think i will wait until june to sign up for that. other than that not much new here. i'll take some of those bracelets. hey kathy where are ya? did you have that interview? if so how did it go? call me if you want to keep it a secret for awhile. i'm curious how it went. as far as everyone else goes, you are proving that i don't have a life cause i check this almost daily. and i am quite often the last post and i haven't gotten to the point where i find it necessary to comment on that yet. SOMEBODY SAY SOMETHING! yap at ya all later.

I'm here!

Hi Weigels! Tammy, I'm sure you are not doing anything wrong (but I guess MJP already confirmed that), the communication on here is just a little inconsistent sometimes! especially on my part. I talked to mom today and she was planning on getting on this tonight and catching up and posting something. So how is everything going? Are you going to take that class? I think I may have missed a couple blogs/posts that I haven't read yet. How's everything else? How've you been feeling? Trying to quit smoking? :) You can be assured I will always ask that!
Shayla, what's all this movement you have got going on out there with shows? Get any of them? Have a question for you, we are going to make some all pink glass bead bracelets as a fundraiser for the 3day; if we send some to you in NY, do you think you'd be able to sell them out there? Let me know what you think.
I bought new walkin' shoes yesterday! That's all the excitement around here right now!

thanks

thanks for responding. at least i know i didn't mess anything up.

Sunday, April 13, 2008

Well...

I think it's just that nobody has posted in the last week or so. I guess no one really has anything to say. That's kind of the way I am, anyway. I read on a daily basis, I just rarely have something to add. I've been fairly busy. I'm the stage manager for a play that opens in just under two weeks, so that definitely keeps me occupied. Aside from that, my time gets devoted to wrapping up my last few weeks of high school. I can't wait to be done, that's for sure. Other than that, not a whole lot has been happening. I've been working on writing my novel recently, which is good. It's always nice to get back to it, but I do believe it is necessary to leave it alone for short spans of time so that I can approach it with a new perspective when I get back to it.
I hope someone else surfaces soon.
:)

did i mess this up?

i'm wondering if i did something wrong that i'm not getting new posts on my computer or if nobody has been on for a week or so. somebody please respond. kathy did you have your interview today? if so how did it go?

Wednesday, April 9, 2008

shayla, i heard you got a call back for the wizard of oz. are you still here or did you go home? good luck with your audition if you haven't had it yet. kathy, have you checked the area you are applying for. i can' t help but think maybe the bennies are so good cause it's a high crime rate or something. as with everything, if it sounds too good to be true...i am very excited for ya and i hope it works out. you might get some company there. good luck on your interview. where is everybody? the school called me the other day. they are running the class again. it starts may 1. its 3 days a week but it's done at the end of the month. i don't know if work is gonna send us or not cause they hired a couple nurses. i'm thinking i might take it anyway. if i don't get on the cart there i can go somewhere else. i have been thinking of checking into that medical billing and coding also. i get this thing in the mail, which everyone does, but i think i'm gonna look into that. we'll see. yap at ya all later.

Friday, April 4, 2008

shayla, glad you're foot is healing nicely. glad you're home to help brea celebrate her accomplishments but i for one cannot go to gramma's i work this weekend. kathy, thanks for thinking of me with the gas thing but i worked until 4am on thursday. i would have called ya back but i didn't see you called until late. sorry, you could have offered it to someone else. or maybe you did anyway. yap at ya all later. congrats to brea.

Thursday, April 3, 2008

I'm in town

So I'm in Brainerd now. It turns out my foot is way way better, almost healed, but I'm here anyway. It works out great, because Brea's defending her thesis today, which is a pretty big deal. And I am around to swing up to Fargo and have a few drinks in celebration with her. So I'm glad of that.

I was wondering what everyone is up to this weekend. I'd love to go to Gramma's house on Saturday or something and play some cards. Anyone else up for it. Although I didn't realize Ed was having issues. She should just ignore them no matter what they are, since that's pretty much what Ed did to her.
Maybe that's harsh, but it's how I feel.

Glad the rodeo was fun. Talk to yas later.
