Latest on Granny

Gramma has been having lots of low blood sugars so the doctor changed her insulin dosage yesterday. Too early to tell yet if it is solving this problem, but hopefully will see an improvement today. -Kiash

Gramma Update

Hi everyone. Gramma/Mom is doing fine. Yesterday Lu had called home to see how she was doing and she was disoriented. Mom knew something was wrong but didn't know what was going on. Lu called 911. Mom's blood sugar was down to 41 when the paramedics got here. They sugared her up and it was back up in the 70's in 10 minutes. She had quite a scare, I think, and knows what to do now.
Planning on hanging around this week until we get a good understanding of how her numbers run throughout the day and night so she is sure of what to do. She does very well, actually, at treating what needs to be treated, counting carbs, figuring out her insulin doses and adding carbs when her sugar gets low. You should all be very proud of her. She is really managing everything very well!

i tryed to comment on a couple of your posts but i couldn't so ill comment with my own post. congrats shay on your weight loss. and grammas best pipe was 75% closed. so this is better than we hoped for. she went home sunday but had a little trouble her blood sugars today. she got really low and paramedics had to come and get her back to good numbers. i'm not sure of the details but that's what i heard. kathy and lu were there when i called so chances are they came up with something to help her figure this stuff out. i plan on going over tomoro cause i have the day off. well kinda. i start with a new client tomoro in rice so i was planning on going to moms when i got done anyway. take care all and i'll yap at ya later.

Completely Unrelated

I just weighed in this morning and I've lost 15 lbs since the first of the year on weight watchers. So I have to say thank you to Jess for recomending it, because she was absolutely right. I really can't believe how well it works. Anyway, how's everyone else. Is Grandma out of the hospital yet?

I thought that her attery was at 75% before the procedure. If it was at 25% then that's extra awesome that they were able to get it up to 100%.

Just wanted to let everyone know that Mom had her procedure around 11:30 and everything went well. They were able to open her artery back up by putting the stent in and it is now at 100% instead of 25%! Awesome.

I have a hard time with computer things. So I hope that this is working. I miss you guys. Tell Grandma I love her. I'll probably be home sometime in the not too distant future. I know I was just there, but it never seems to be enough.

just wanted you to know that I got on - while Mom and Kris on playing cards. There is a computer in the family lounge for checking emails. I didn't know it was here, so I though I would pass it on.

I read your comment and wanted to let you know that Grandma is doing fine. She did have a heart attack (or two) on Monday morning. They are planning to put a stent in in a day or two. She still has dye in her system from the tests they ran at St Cloud hospital on Monday morning. Once they know that it has been flushed out they will be able to do the procedure.
They are working with her to educate her on her diabetic management plan which includes two types of insulin-the slow even release one that she takes each night and the shots she will give herself whenever she eats where she adjusts the dosage to offset the number of carbs consumed. She is being taught by dieticians how to count carbs and what to eat.
She is anxious to go home but knows she will be staying for a while. She got tons of visitors and phone calls today (Tuesday) and is very good spirits. I think I have your cell phone number, Nikki, and will give you a call when I know of other news to share.
I am so glad to see you have joined us on here and look forward to hearing from you!
